    You must install git

    On Linux I use git GUI and create git repo in any directory/folder.

    On windows after installing git right click on directory/folder in explorer and select ’git here’

    Does that make sense.

    You can also use command line on both but not so helpful.

            I’m evaluating various CMS’s so I can present alternatives to my employer (we do lots of Drupal work, bleck). I can’t recommend modx for this very reason.

            Back-end code and front-end code need to be represented as static files so we can track changes using source control like subversion.

            We all know that tracking database changes is a pain when dealing with a deploy process. Being able to push static files is safer and more reliable.

            This is not true. "Include" your snippets as files. This is better practice as it keeps cache size down, and u can use Mercurial, SVN, Git etc etc...

              IMHO, this is by far best way to keep elements in files: http://www.butter.com.hk/blog/posts/2011/february/modx-file-elements-mirror.html

              Just add this line of code at the beginning of this plugin $modx->cacheManager->clearCache();

              stay well
