Haha, I think most of it is technically possible. Provisioner can already take all the resource data and pull it right into Evolution, however the hardest part is changing the addons involved and making sure any custom snippets and/or changes are moved over properly.
Few thoughts:
- Replacing all tag syntax with the right equivalent in Revolution (Perhaps Provisioner does this already? Never used it tbh.) is quite doable.
- Not too familiar with the Evo syntax, but moving over elements (tpls, chunks, tvs, snippets, plugins) would be doable for the most part. Plugins & snippets may be a little tricky as their code will be invalid for the bigger part, probably. And I have yet to find a piece of php that interprets another PHP code to find out what it does, replacing tidbits with newer equivalent.
- Keep a database of how certain addons in Evolution are to be treated in Revolution. Changing Wayfinder is mainly changing the tag syntax, and changing most of the Ditto calls would be doable, but it will be virtually impossible to know every combination of any snippet out there.
- Porting over security settings will be a huge pain in the behind.. there’s so much more involved with that in Revo and a lot would have to be assumed which may lead to unwanted results.
Bottom line?
Convince me to drop out of school (that will be the easiest part), then start paying me a full time wage for the next 6 months or so (let’s just put that at around € 50.000 for now, and that’d be a nice offer) and I’ll give you that button with a huge list full with questions on how it should deal with certain aspects. Then it will give you instructions on how to up your PHP memory limit to a few gig, as well on how to set your max execution time to something like an hour.
I think, cost wise, it may just be easier to spend a week, or maybe two, to move over the content with provisioner and go through your templates to replace Evo stuff with Revo stuff. But - if you have € 50.000 and really want that button that bad, send me an email (see sig) and let’s talk.
