Need help with friendly URLs - skippping main page in URLs

Yes, I searched the forum, no, I didn’t find the answer.
I need help with the nested friendly URLs - I have main page and other pages are under it, for example one of the names would be vegetables
So I want people coming to my site to see the main page at: http://mysite.tld/
and vegetables page at: http://mysite.tld/vegetables.php
and onions sub-page of vegetables page at: http://mysite.tld/vegetables/onions.php
and different sub-pages of onion sub-page of vegetables page at: http://mysite.tld/vegetables/onions/red.php http://mysite.tld/vegetables/onions/green.php http://mysite.tld/vegetables/onions/yellow.php
And I figured out how to make it all work except for one thing: I am getting the friendly URL for main page stuck in the way like this: http://mysite.tld/FRIENDLYURLFORMAINPAGE/vegetables/onions/yellow.php
If I don’t set the friendly URL for main page I get http://mysite.tld/1/vegetables/onions/yellow.php
But I want nothing there between ....tld/ and vegetables/.... - is there a workaround for that?
Thanks, everybody!

Ok, nobody knows that? Is it even possible?
How about moving the pages out from under the main page - what would be the hidden rocks in that river?
I see it as a possibility to clean up the URLs but would it affect anything?

Which version of MODx?
In Evolution if you have FURL paths set to Yes, then you are geting what’s expected, parents become ’fake folders’.
If vegetables are a child of the main page then main page will be part of the vegetables url.
Should be fine to move vegetables to the top level.

Evolution, latest - sorry, I didn’t mention that from the beginning.
For right now I moved "vegetables" from under the main page and it works fine.
