Love Modx. Really. Perfect for what I need - except for two issues I’m having. I want to create site structure like this:

    - menu item
    - sub item
    - sub item
    - menu
    - menu
    - menu item
    - sub item
    - sub item
    - sub item
    - sub item
    ...

which has a url path of "menuitem/sub", instead of the "index.php?id=8" type path. I set some resources as children under a container resource, and set "user-friendly" links and "Use Friendly alias path" to yes in the configuration area. Still not showing. How would I accomplish this?

    Thanks

Did you clear the site cache after turning on friendly URLs? The cached pages will still have the old URLs in all their menus.

Yep. Cleared the cache. Not working. This is a site I am still building out, so don’t remind me "curriculum" is misspelled grin

        This is a test page:
        http://fbcjaxacademy.bleedingtree.net/index.php?id=7

It is part of a main root resources called (alias "jr"), which is set as a container. I have the above link as a child of the "jr" page. I have it set to published, with an alias of "sports". I assume this is correct. I can provide access to a "guru" here if needed.

Did you change the ht.access file to .htaccess?

No....didn’t realize I needed to. I need to change it for that to work properly? I ask because I saw nothing in any soca or the admin stating to.

Yea, the .htaccess does the actual rewriting. Rename the file and then edit it where needed (just replace example.com basically)

And you should be good to go.

yep, seems to work. Thanks so much.

Real work needs to be done on documenting some of this stuff...I’m so impressed with ModX - only been using a couple of days - and think it would only benefit it it had some sort of built-in help or module showing tips in the Admin panel.

This thing rocks, and looks to be my replacement for Expression Engine - I’d just like a bit more documentation. I’ll be spending hours here in the forums, though tongue

Yeah, Expression Engine has some real whacko limitations. E.g. the default way it handles URLs and templates is constrained when compared to MODx.

Have a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlGiypZZTSw

Also, have a look at the MODx wiki... there’s lots of good documentation in there... some docs are better than others, but many things have been described in detail in the Wiki:
