    Hi
Just installed modx rev via Softaculous. Started buidling a website ...set up my home page and 4 other pages (resources)
I can preview the home page okay but none of the other pages appear when I preview or link to them from my home page (menu set up with Wayfinder) I get a 404 error message saying page not found in directory.
I checked they are published, they are alo menu indexed, etc. I can see them in the file tree and modx resource panel but not in the browser.
The modx installation automatically created a subdirectory. If I add the subdirectory to the Rewrite base / line in the .htaccess when I try to preview the new resources I don’t get the error message but it just shows the home page all the time.
    This is the error:
    Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.2.17 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at sdzblu.info Port 80

Can any one help at all? PLEASE !! Thanks
    Steve

Have you got a link to your site which can be viewed? It might help make it more obvious what is happening.

Check System -> System Settings and see if Use Friendly URLs is turned on and check whether the file in the MODx root is called .htaccess or ht.access. Let us know.

          Hi guys
          Thanks for the replies.
yes I have saved ht.access as .htaccess and turned on FURLs in system settings.
          Site is at sdzblu.info/modx
Is it anything to do with installing modx in a sub-directory?
I’m desperate. Your input is MUCH appreciated.THANKS

Further to the problem ...you’ll note that when you click any of the site menu links (even Home) it gives a 404 error. Just want to point out I don’t believe it is a Wayfinder issue because even in the modx manager interface when I try to simply "preview" one of the resources it can’t find the page via the browser (except Home)!!

In an effort to supply useful info ...heres a screenshot of my FURL settings to see if its what it should be (attached).
Also please note that the resource icons in the file tree are all white ...shouldn’t they be a mix of colors?
              Does that indicate anything?

I have resolved the problem ...CRAZY thing !
Combination of needing to add the subdirectory to the Rewritebase/ in .htaccess and syntax errors in the Wayfinder templates due to copy pasting and speechmarks not translating right. Because it was a combination, when I looked at / amended each area in isolation, I still had a problem until I modified them both.
                Thanks for the time spent!

Glad you got it sorted. I was going to suggest the rewrite base issue but would never have thought of the other one. wink
