Will modX or does modX have the ability to version resources?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if i’m just not seeing this but I was wondering if someone knows if modX has the ability to version the pages that have been worked on?

For example if i’m working on the About page of my site I go in and make a change can the system create a copy of that older version and store it somewhere?

If this were possible modX would be the tool of choice for my ORG.

Thanks,

There is http://modxcms.com/extras/package/24
and another one called Content History

I personally find it not to hard to transfer MODx sites
between servers or just use duplicated pages set un-published or
restricted by login.

With regular backup and watching manager actions log (Reports), I find it simple to fix client
screw-ups but that is another topic.

Hi TikaL13,

Versioning of documents is not currently a feature of the core in evolution or revolution. It has been discussed.

Here is a thread regarding this subject that might be helpful to you. > http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,10808.0.html

Some developers do use vcs to handle templates, chunks, and snippets from the filesystem - review this post http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,30755.msg186652.html#msg186652

Hope this helps. I resort to a good backup strategy of the DB. Custom triggers could handle a task like this in the DB. Then a management module could be built to handle the interface. just a thought.

@mrhaw - I must have missed Content History. Cool. TY.

I haven’t tried it but looks very promising!
