Does anyone have any tips on installing Modx when there is a site already in the root folder? I want to be able to install modx, build the pages, templates, etc. and when it’s running well, replace the old site. However, I would like the old site to be up until it’s in place.

Do you already have an index.php file? If not you should be able to just put everything in place and when your done remove the index.html file from your existing site.

If you server loads index.php before index.html use this to correct the problem:

Add this to your .htaccess file:

      DirectoryIndex index.html

It looks like it’s currently index.html. It’s also a very basic site so I should be good to go.
        Thanks for the heads up.
