    Hi Guys,

Im very new to this software and I’ve managed to develop a site/template which is populated by the CMS fields. My question is, to edit my website I have got to train my client to go into the backend, i.e. www.domainname.com/manager enter the username and password and they log in. So far so good. They can then search for the page they want to edit, however the problem I find is this editor pane does not reflect what the finished article will look like as for example the the page widths a different so text wrapping and images are awkward to position and guess. I do appreciate the preview button, but is there someway I can allow my user to edit the frontend similar to what "ektron" call incontext editing? Would love to hear your thoughts, its a great little package and Im still learning the ropes, just thought it would be excellent if the editing was a little easier.

    Many Thanks

NewsPublisher is another option (if you can find it).

            HI Bob,

Now that I’ve completed my form exactly the way I want it, starting to think of embedding newspublisher into my template so its easy for my client to edit the site. Reading through the tutorial on your website, I notice (perhaps ive misread, its quite late and been working on this for days) there may be some problems with the TinyMCE editor on the front end - but you hope to have addressed it by the time someone reads the tutorial. Is that still the case?

Many Thanks for the your help

TBH, I’m not sure. I don’t maintain TinyMCE.

The fix is quite simple -- Bruno17 has posted it here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,59931.msg343009.html#msg343009.

                  Hi Bob,

Im obviously doing something wrong here, still learning....end users huh

Anyway Ive added the following code within the body area of my page:

                  [[!NewsPublisher@ &show=`pagetitle,longtitle,pub_date,unpub_date,content`]] [[!NpEditThisButton]]

The form does indeed come up, however there is no content in the form. So I am guessing I need to embed the id somehow in the NewsPublisher snippet, but not got any idea how to do this. The form also says

Sorry . . . There were one or more problems in producing the form:
You do not have permission to edit resources containing modx tags.

After reading your tutorial, I added the allow_modx_tags - Policy Template under (Security/Access Controls/Access Policies). I have it enabled...

Any help to get me kick started would be much appreciated.

                  Thanks

Try this (note the question mark):

                    [[!NewsPublisher? &show=`pagetitle,longtitle,pub_date,unpub_date,content`]]

Actually, you’ll want this, since you have date fields:

                    [[!NewsPublisher? &show=`pagetitle,longtitle,pub_date,unpub_date,content` &initdatepicker=`1`]]

The @ sign is for attaching your own property set, in which case you’d want:

                    [[!NewsPublisher@propertySetName? &show=`pagetitle,longtitle,pub_date,unpub_date,content` &initdatepicker=`1`]]

You don’t want the NpEditThisButton tag on the NewsPublisher page (it wouldn’t show anyway). It should go on other pages you might want to edit with NewsPublisher, or more often -- in the template.

                      Hi Bob,

Thankyou, Ive got it working with the second snippet of code - added the parameters I wanted and I can create a new page from the front end successfully smiley .How do I (or can I) edit pages that already exist, things that were created from the manager? Cant seem tp figure this out, I have the [[!NewsPublisher]] snippet code embedded in my template so all pages should be accessible.

                      Sorry for the embarassing questions.
