Modx Extras

Hello,

Since this is my first post let me thank you guys for the great CMS you developed.

As i come from a Joomla CMS background i was happy to see that ModX has an extension directory similar to the successful JED (Joomla Extension Directory). To my opinion this directory helped a lot to the popularity of Joomla, and acted as an incentive for the developers.
One of the key issues that helped JED to expand and developers to post more extensions was also the fact that the download link was not compulsory on a centralized repository, but could be also on the developers website, so they could
a) sell the extension
b) display advertisements on their websites ans thus supporting their development
c) require registration and having a community

Would this be an option for Modx Extras repository? Is there any plan in the future to have this kind of functionality?
Reading the forums i was not really sure how welcome are commercial developers in the modx community. From my experience in Mambo and Joomla, professional developers have helped a lot to boost the popularity of the CMS.

Thanks again,

Andy

That’s a great question Andy, and something that we’ve discussed on and off again; we’re currently evaluating ways to help support MODx’s ongoing development and this is one of the areas we’ve considered. Would you care to discuss this offline?

Somewhat the same topic:
I want to buy cups, caps, t-shirts and flags with MODx logos!!

As soon as I get my new computer, since this one’s warranty extensions are up, I’m going to get the case top airbrushed with a MODx logo! The iMODx
