Hi, hopefully none will be offended by my web site - the content and especially the way I messed up the CSS. I was recommended by a friend to use Firebug to better help my vision of the site. All I wanted to do was widen the white part of the page where the content lies but some how Ditto moved every thing over to the left. Could any one give me some pointers please? Thanks!

I’m at work and can’t check it it.
Firebug works great at resolving issues and finding problems.

      I have done this before.
It’s usually a DIV that is not closed properly.

Also check the width of your divs.
Sometimes they add up to wider than the main container.
They then wrap below each other.

      Good luck.

Sounds about right. I might just upload the original layout.css and start over. It was a learning process any ways smiley If you could look at it when you get home, that’d be really cool of you. My eyes hurt from staring at the mess so I’ll be breaking until this evening, then more hacking.. Thanks!

Thanks for catching that one! Woh, I need to break away from the <CENTER> html any ways.

It hasn’t changed any thing noticeable yet. Would any one know the code for me to move my Home source content to the middle of my page layout? I’m sure it’s a CSS file in my template but can’t figure it out for the life of me. Thanks!

Without sounding like a real a___hole, I would suggest starting from scratch.

The rendered source code alone renders with 34 errors (W3C Markup Validation Service) and 52 warnings (HTML tidy)

Nesting of elements is a major problem - "p" tags in "p" tags are not allowed, having "span" tags span a huge block of code is also not allowed when other mark-up elements are within.

Standard HTML is being mixed with XHTML and Font Tags are also being used (The <font> tag in HTML is deprecated)

After you have the basic structure working properly you can then add your third party elements - iFrames etc.

At the same time I would check the Ditto templates/chunks for correct (X)HTML mark-up.

If you have a good base, then it should be easy enough to find where the problem is - trial and error, remove one bit at a time and you will find the culprit.

              Happy hunting smiley

Yea, your divs are all messed up.
You have two Head divs, not sure if that is allowed...

Then in your Body section you have:
                left
                left-inner
                content
                wrapper

The wrapper should be contain or wrap the other divs.

You might play around with that or start over.
I always take baby steps and make small changes so things don’t blew up and you don’t know what happened.

This is what I would do.
Save your current files in a different folder.
Go back to your default or beginning format.
Then slowly add in small sections of your current files.
Make sure nothing breaks as you go along.

                I love Notepad++ for this.
You have have a bunch of files open and make comparisons to all your files.

                Good luck

+1 for starting over. I don’t know why you need a frame at all or anywhere near that many levels of nested divs. As you’re finding, it’s difficult to maintain a structure that complex.

Right on, thanks Bobs (both bobs). ..still a noob here but trying and the two leftie divs are starting to make sense. I don’t remember pasting that. I think the problem was that I was working too quickly with every thing.

Thanks every one! I’ll keep ’yall updated.

I was told by a friend I should just tailor make my own template but says I would need to know CSS and XHTML. CSS I thought could easily be made with Dreamweaver? ..and I know nothing of XHTML, obviously. Any suggestions for programs to help make my own template? ..or could any body recommend a template.

Maybe I should just use Wordpress?
