I’ve recently taken ownership of a rather large modx site running version 9.6.2 which is extremely out of date. My question is, do i try and update it to the latest version of evo or do i build a completely new site and attempt to migrate the content and features over to it?

the site itself is a news site, installed on a LAMP stack, quite large with over 12k articles, custom templates, chunks, snippets, tv’s, files and folders outside the theme, and go knows what else. also, there is a wordpress installation in a subdirectory acting as their blog section and was thinking of integrating that into the new modx install.

    any help is appreciated.

I’d definitely try to update to 1.0.5 first. I suspect there’ll be a few issues, but likely much faster than rebuilding.

In your case, I would be careful not to overwrite existing snippets, and uncheck them during the installation process. Some like Ditto and AjaxSearch have changed how the parameters work, and in some cases use different parameters altogether. You can upgrade each snippet individually later.
