Newbie needs Wayfinder tutorial

Hi all,

I’m new to MODx but am experienced with HTML and CSS and have dabbled with Javascript and PHP (also very experienced with Flash but am moving away from it).

I’ve got CSS working, got to grips with Templates, Resources and Chunks, BUT, I am totally lost with Wayfinder. I have got a simple menu to appear which reads my menu CSS to the point I can specify colour and size of text but that’s it.

I’m trying to create a menu bar across the page with single level dropdowns like this: http://www.jam-pact.com (I’m rebuilding this site in MODx). I have found tons of very techy info on Wayfinder and loads of sample code (much of which is for the Evo version), none of which tells you what each bit specifically does or where it should go and is way over my head. Can anyone recommend a basic guide to controlling layout and appearance and an overview of the concepts by which it works?

Welcome to MODx.

Be aware that kongondo’s tutorial is written for Evo, so it uses Evo’s tag syntax for snippets.
But you just have to modify his examples to the tag syntax of Revo, and you can profit from all he says.
