I am trying to have the children of a parent document inherit a certain template. I thought I could do this with a form customization rule, but it appears that a lot of functionality has been removed in the latest versions of revo.

is there any other way to do this?

    thanks,
    g

      Hello,

it should be doable with form customization by setting your constraint to "parent" and value to the id of the parent (while the form customization apply on create resource action).
Forgive me if terms aren’t correct, i’ve written from what i remember.

      Hope this would help

thanks so much, just the extra bit of information i needed.

        here’s how you do this:

        - create a new profile
        - Right click the new profile and select edit
        - Create a new set
        - right click the set and select edit

        add the following settings

        Action: create resource
        Constraint Field: parent
Constraint: 11 (where 11 is is the id of your parent folder)
        check the active box

scroll down and locate the template field and add the id of the template you want the children to inherit in the default value.

What if you want this to apple to more than one resource as the constraint value? So I have two parent resources with the same template and I want their children to use the same template. I tried to assign more than one resource id to the constraint field : 2,3 for example, but it did not work.

Probably you need to create then a new profile, I assume.

Yes, you'd need a separate rule for that. You could also do it with a fairly simple plugin connected to OnDocFormSave.
