    hi

    i managed to transfer my database to my live server, then followed the guidelines from http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server

    I use MODX Revol 2.05..
    prior transferring all files, I cleared cache and flushed all sessions
    I even double checked and deleted everything that remained under core/cache folder

    since i couldn’t figure out the absolute path of my root, i used dirname( __FILE__) in the core config file, for ex>
    $modx_core_path= dirname( __FILE__) . ’/core/’;

    in phpMySQL i also modified the core path of the workspaces table to /core/

    now, when I want to access domain.com/manager/ i get four warning messages:

    Warning: include_once(C:/wamp/www/mysite/core/model/modx/modx.class.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /manager/index.php on line 47

    Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening ’C:/wamp/www/mysite/core/model/modx/modx.class.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /manager/index.php on line 47

    Warning: include(C:/wamp/www/mysite/core/error/unavailable.include.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /manager/index.php on line 48

    Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ’C:/wamp/www/mysite/core/error/unavailable.include.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /manager/index.php on line 48
    Site temporarily unavailable!

    now, i don’t know what i did wrong
    any advice, tips?

    and thanx

      Just run setup in upgrade mode in the new location. Your paths are definitely not correct.

        so you mean, downloading the latest version and following the Upgrade guidelines, do an update,
        I hope, it will work

        should I leave my core config file as it is? of course i will set it to be writable

          you were right, i double checked and somehow I missed the $modx_base_path to configure it properly in the config file

          now it is correct and it looks promising
          i get a server error message, checked phpinfo and there are few requirements which are not adjusted by my hosting provider
          now i’m sure after all server requirements are met, i will be able to log into the moved CMS admin

          thanx for your support and sorry for my occasional stupid questions smiley

            hi OpenGeek

            after several attempts, i am still struggling with my site moving from localhost to live server
            now i will try to provide all information to you in hopes of letting me know what i might be doing wrong or anything i missed

            MODX versiion 2.0.6-pl2
            MySQL 5.0.32 on live server
            PHP 5.2.10 on live server

            core/config/config.inc.php:
            $database_type = 'mysql';
            $database_server = 'localhost';
            $database_user = 'myusername';
            $database_password = '*********';
            $database_connection_charset = 'utf8';
            $dbase = '`mydatabase`';
            $table_prefix = 'mytableprefix_';

            ....
            $modx_core_path= '/core/';
            $modx_processors_path= '/core/model/modx/processors/';
            $modx_connectors_path= '/connectors/';
            $modx_connectors_url= '/connectors/';
            $modx_manager_path= '/manager/';
            $modx_manager_url= '/manager/';
            $modx_base_path= '/';
            $modx_base_url= '/';
            $http_host='mydomain.com';
            $modx_assets_path= '/assets/';
            $modx_assets_url= '/assets/';

            I also tried with
            '/'.dirname( __FILE__) .
            and
            dirname( __FILE__) .

            at the beginning of folders, for ex:
            $modx_manager_url= '/'.dirname( __FILE__) .'/manager/';
            $modx_base_path= '/'.dirname( __FILE__) .'/';

            Now my hosting company adjusted the server to meet all requirements for MODXcms and there is no long path as usual (like /public_html/.../ whatever) that’s why my paths are so short

            I still get same error messages as i wrote in my first post and even tried your suggestion to run setup again
            Here is the error message I get when trying to run setup:

            Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: open(/tmp/sess_22ffb3a841d8d2e18643b972f3290634, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in /setup/index.php on line 32

            Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /setup/index.php:32) in /setup/index.php on line 32

            Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /setup/index.php:32) in /setup/index.php on line 32

            FATAL ERROR: MODx Setup cannot continue.

            Make sure your PHP session configuration is valid and working.

            Warning: Unknown: open(/tmp/sess_22ffb3a841d8d2e18643b972f3290634, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in Unknown on line 0

            Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

            I am confident, there is something minor which should be adjusted properly however at the moment I can not figure out the exact cause of this issue.
            I know your time is precious but probably with the above information you or someone else could figure out more quickly what steps should be taken. By Wednesday, my site should be running smiley

            Many thanx in advance

              While MODx Revo itself uses database storage for sessions, the setup needs to have a basic PHP session. You’re having a problem with session configuration in PHP.

                  hi everyone

                  first of all thanx for all the support, it really helped me
                  the good news is that my MODXcms is now functioning pretty well on the live server, so the move has been successful

                  however, besides few problems we had with the server, the major one was my imported database
                  since it is a Hungarian website, the database contained Hungarian characters and I used Janitor to backup the db and while editing it in an editor I noticed, Hungarian characters are either not showing at all or there are ? marks which ruined all my db..
                  the db and all tables are set to collation utf8 hungarian
                  I think, Janitor has a bug and can not make an accurate backup of non-latin characters, at least that’s my presumption

                  thanx again for everyone
