Hi, I think you should provide a bit more details.
Are you using the revolution or evolution version?

Modx isn’t a system where you just click your website into existence, that said it won’t be easy if you are really a noob ;-)

You can start by creating a new template and put any working html template code in there. Then you just put [[*content]] (or [*content*] in Evolution) where you want to have your content.

This is your first template variable. Now you can fill this place in your document via Tinymce RichText editor (has to be installed separately in Revolution).

You can create more template variables by using the same syntax as above with your own name and put them at other places in your html template.

See the site in my sig for a little about how MODx works. As Thomas108 says, it does depend on the version you’re using.

Generally speaking, you don’t want to see your template -- you want to see a document (resource) that *uses* that template.

IOW, you create a resource with some content and select that template as its template.

You can see the resource by right-clicking on it in the Resource tree at the left and selecting "preview."

Mary at the The Coding Pad has written a superb intro to Evolution:

          http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/03/28/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-1-introduction/

She’s started one for Revolution but only up to part 3 so far:

After working through these I think you’ll be well on the way. Good luck.
