I’m very new to Form Customisation in the MODx Manager, is there a way to move my template variables into the "Create/Edit Document" tab?
I am only using one page template so I would like to put all the options for editing it under one tab.

    Thanks everyone smiley

      Hi,

      first, it’s easy! =)

      1. Create a form-customization for resource/update | resource/create
      2. update them and go to template variables tab
      3. there you have some settings for every TV you’ve created
      4. then set value for Tab to: "modx-panel-resource-settings", save it and here you go

Hi, just to confirm - I’m using MODx Revolution. Is this the version you are referring to?

I’m not sure I understand your steps sad could you explain a little clearer (I’m a complete noob to this side of MODx!)

        Many thanks!

Huh, thought it would be clear enough... okay, ust made a little screencast for you. Hope you can understand even if it’s in German language (interface).

To have the changes appear in your page you have to re-open the resource from left resource-tree.

Wow! That was so helpful - thank you so much! laugh

I have to admit, I hadn’t found the "Sets" section of the group settings. I think I’ll find Form Customisation a lot easier from now on smiley

              Just an after-thought...

I have set this up as explained and it looks much cleaner now (@smooth-graphics - thanks for the walk-through!)

However it has come to my attention that these rules are applied with JavaScript after the page is rendered. This means that while the page is loading, you can see all the fields that I have set to be hidden - the fields only disappear once the page has fully loaded.

Although this is not a huge deal, and I’m happy enough to use this method, I’m wondering whether I could get around this ’bug’ by creating a plugin that hides the fields before the page is properly rendered.

I’ll post in this thread if I manage to sort it out, but if anyone thinks I’d be wasting my time let me know wink

              [EDIT]

Just been looking at the Plugin Events... there is one called "OnResourceTVFormPrerender" which sounds hopeful, but I’m having trouble finding any kind documentation etc about this one :S
It appears that nearly all the Plugin Events have a description on the MODx Documentation website, but this one doesn’t sad I may be able to use the OnDocFormPrerender event instead if I can’t figure out exactly when the OnResourceTVFormPrerender event fires.

This has been reported as a bug already (http://bugs.modx.com/issues/3113)
I guess I could wait a while to see if this ’improvement’ gets fixed before I try to ’bodge’ it with my mediocre php skills... smiley
