External file using MODx API

I’m converting a MODx template into external php files so I can embed in another app similar to the method described at http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MODx_site_menu_in_external_PHP_app , but how do I handle the following examples in an external php file using the same method?

[(site_name)]
[*longtitle*]
[(site_url)]
[~8~]

Mostly harmless.

[(site_name)]

$sitename = $modx->config['site_name'];

[(site_url)]

$siteurl = $modx->config['site_url'];

[*longtitle*]

$docId = "8";
//or 
$docId = $modx->documentIdentifier;
$docFields = "longtitle";
$doc = $modx->getDocument($docId, $docFields);
$longtitle = $doc['longtitle'];

[~8~]

$linkurl = $modx->makeUrl(8);

If coding inside functions use:

global $modx;

Instead of return

echo $myOutput;
//or
print $myOutput;
