On revo here, I have followed the tutorials at bobs site and http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Making+Member-Only+Pages, and it is pretty straight forward, the problem I have here is when I go to edit the user group, on the context access tab, I can set the context to web, min role to member 9999, but the access policy provides no "Resource" as an option as there is on the resource group access tab.
I followed the instructions to the T, I created resource group, assigned a resource to that group (though drag and drop didn’t work, just edited the resource itself),
I then went to access controls, added a user group, right clicked, went to the context tab set the context minimum role, but as I said in the policy "resource" isn’t given, the only options are as follows:

    (no policy)
    administrator
    content editor
    load only
    load list and view
    object

all I need is for a user after registering and being added to the user group, have access to the resource group resource. do I put load only?

look, I have tested with load only seems ok, just wondering if this is ok, I only have bobs guide, the rtfm, and some other scroogled resources to go with, it’s about user permissions on a client website, if the rtfm article is the only way to go then I guess it’s not best to deploy if I don’t have an option of resource.

That’s a mistake in the tutorial. A Context Access ACL entry should never have a policy of resource (and it’s now more-or-less impossible as you found out).

’Load Only’ or ’Load, List, and View’ should work fine if all you want to do is let users "see" the page in the front end.

Thanks bob, that’s a load off of my mind. It worked with load only, but I couldn’t feel that I was producing a secure resource without someone else weighing in and telling me exactly that...that it was a typo...pheeeew!

If "load only" works, that would be the most secure. The user can’t actually *do* anything with the resource except look at it. wink
