Hello, I’m building a website with MODx since 1 week. Everything runs fine but I can’t find a solution for a simple case.
I want a horizontal topmenu with submenu links in a left sidebar. I realised this successfully with WayFinder calls in combination with UltimateParent. The only extra thing I want is the display of the parent menu name above my submenu links in the sidebar. In this way, it isn’t necessary to create an extra template.

    Like so:

    Topmenu: Mainmenuitem1 | Mainmenuitem2 | Mainmenuitem 3

After the selected "Mainmenuitem2", I want the submenu displayed in the leftbar in this manner:

Mainmenuitem2 (this is repeated from the selected topmenu)
    - SubmenuItem1
    - SubmenuItem2

I can’t get the repeating text "Mainmenuitem2" displayed. What am I supposed to do to get a solution for this?

Use the &displayStart parameter in your sidebar’s Wayfinder call. You can customize its output with a custom tpl and the &startItemTpl parameter.

I strongly suggest downloading a copy of the Wayfinder "cheat sheet"; I always have a copy of it open in a tab in my browser when building a Wayfinder menu! It’s the first link, to the zip file, in the top of this page

Thank you very much for your help! I had already downloaded the WayFinder e-book. I just didn’t notice the displayStart parameter, sorry... I used ExpressionEngine before, now I like MODx very much. I will migrate all my sites to MODx. This CMS is so beautiful!

The book is great, but for just a quick refresher on which parameters do what the "cheat sheet" is even better.
