    Hi,

I’d like to set up a blog, using MODx as the CMS, in a subfolder on my client’s MODx website (i.e www.mywebsite.com/blog/myarticle.html). Can anyone tell me if this is possible - can this be done on the original MODx install, or will I need a second MODx installation in the subfolder? I can’t seem to find any info on creating pages within a subfolder...

      Is www.mywebsite.com already running MODx?

If so, you could make a resource in your site tree with an alias of "blog", check the system settings to see if "alias_path" is turned on. When it is, any resources which are created as a child of the "blog" resource will get links like you pointed out. All of this assumes you’re using friendly urls.

      Hope this helps.

I’m building the site at the moment with MODx, and yes, that does work perfectly - thanks a lot! Although it affects a lot of the other child documents in the site, now that I think about it, it could be a very good thing to include the parents’ name for SEO purposes.

Even though this is about my 10th site using MODx I didn’t know how to do that embarrassed. So simple, I love MODx.

While we’re on it, do you know if using this alias path method has any effect for SEO ’bots, compared to actually having a dedicated ’physical’ subfolder on the server?

        Many thanks and merry Christmas!

I don’t think bots can distinguish between physical and dynamically created folders... they both return HTTP 200 OK so they ’exist’.
