Hello,
In Evo 1.x, is there any way to lock an actual Parent page from being edited, but still allow creation of Children under the locked Parent page?
Example:
News Homepage - LOCKED -
-->News Item
-->News Item
-->News Item
I want the user to be able to create new News Items under the News Homepage page, but not to be able to mess around with the News Homepage page that just has a Ditto call to list the News Items.
I created the pages in a structure similar to seen above and added them to User/Resource groups to lock the Parent, but it also disallows adding Children. I know I could do something like hide the content field from the user or create a template so the content is empty or something tricky like that, but I’m trying to make it as simple as possible to tell which parts they should/can edit or not.
Am I going about this wrong?
Thanks for any help!

you can not.
Let’s do in different way.
News Homepage -> news-homepage-template
-->News Item -> news-item-template
-->News Item -> news-item-template
-->News Item -> news-item-template
In the news-homepage-template, you have already set the [!Ditto!] call inside it, and not using the [*content*] tag. So whatever your user put something into the content-field, the news homepage will stay clean.

FYI, you can do it in MODx Revolution, where you have much finer control of user permissions.
Right, thanks guys, appreciate it!
