    Hi,

I have used the previous version to Revolution so I am new to this version. In the previous version once you had logged in via /manager you could click ’preview site’ from there you could navigate to the page you wish to edit and move your mouse to the top of the screen to click ’Edit Resource’ a pop up window would then appear and you’d edit the page click save and the pop up would close - your page was now Edited.

Is this possible with the new version Revolution.... I’ve only created 1 page so far but this functionality doesn’t appear to be working?

How to I ’turn this bit on’ as I realise I have to now download Wayfinder etc is this function something I need to download as an Add ON?

    Thanks

That was accomplished with the QuickEdit plugin. I don’t think there is anything like that yet for Revolution.

I’m working on a version of NewsPublisher that will provide a front-end [Edit] button, but I don’t know when it will be released.

I’m having a hard time settling on a security system for it, which is critical since it potentially allows users to edit any page on your site.

Thanks for the reply.... for me this was a BIG seller to clients as it was easy for them to navigate to the page they wanted to edit. I’ve not gone too far down the road on Revolution do you think its worth me taking it off the server and uploading the old version so I can have this feature??? (really need it!)

        What would you advise?

        Thanks

Have a look at Frontpage, it’s a QM/PubKit clone for Revolution, may help you.

Great... will that do the same thing? So do I find it in Add-ons and download it the same as I did Wayfinder?

            Thanks again

Yes, its under content or blogging if I remember, its basically Evo’s QM, which I think was itself a clone of QE but I’m not sure here.

It’s already "ancient history" but QuickManager+ (QM+) has very little in common with the original QuickEdit. QuickManager+ is a fork of QuickManager (by Urique Dertlian) that introduced a clever way to use MODx mananager frame in front-end. QuickManager+ used QuickManager as it’s base and added multiple new options and usage improvements in to it. The latest QM+ 1.5 version branch finally added also old "QuickEdit like" single TV editing features.

The history lesson is now over wink

                  Hi,

Thanks for all the advice I’ve decided to delete Revolution and go back to the previous version with Quick Edit installed. I have shown this version to my client and this was what they wanted as it is just so easy to update pages this way... I think I’ll wait until Revolution has more to offer before having another go with it. I have also seen there are less tutorials for this version so to use it now I feel I really would be feeling in the dark. This website I’m doing will only be the 3rd time I’ve used MODx so really do need a lot of help.

Thanks again for all the help.

                  :-)

There’s always the right CMS for a right choice, and Evo does not neccesarily mean downgrading.

I would like to invite you to start playing with Revolution though... it has amazing features for those who dare digging in.

And front-end editing will come eventually.. like this post demonstrates - there is a need for it wink
