Hello,
I did some forum crawling, but couldn’t find exactly what I’m looking for.
I have a very simple layout, header, navigation, content, sidebar.
Each page has a sidebar. Text in sidebar is the same in all sidebars.
What I want to do - When I edit one sidebar, information changes in all sidebars. But I also need WYSIWYG editor for end-user.
What I have done - I have created TV "sidebar" and placed this TV in each page. But in order to change information I have to edit each sidebar. I have also tried @INHERIT, but I couldn’t get it working. I understand that @INHERIT, inherits from parent, but all my pages are in same level
My page structure:
home (1)
|
page (53)
|
page (54)
|
page (55)
|
page (56)
normally you would use chunks for same content on different pages.
But you can also create a special resource in your resource tree which holds that content for all pages and call that content with the getField-snippet in your sidebar, for example.
You can also use Ditto to show content from your special-resource.
I may be mistaken , but since chunks aren’t editable in wysiwyg editor I couldn’t use them.
I couldn’t find info on getField in modx wiki, is there information on this somwhere ?
Thank you ! Will check it out
