When you have an install with different contexts, is it possible to create users who only have access to specific contexts?
Yes, absolutely. You need to put the user(s) in a user group and give that user group access to the context. That will protect the context from other users not in the group.
Read this first:
http://bobsguides.com/revolution-permissions.html if you haven’t already.
Thanks Bob. I got it up and running. The permissions are really robust! I can see so man possibilities with this setup.
Congratulations on getting it working without assistance. That doesn’t always happen.
Yeah, i was being lazy. But due to time, I had to jump in and it turned out to be easier than I imagined.
One strange thing happened, though. While I was setting access perms for a test context, somewhere during the shuffle, the text context disappeared. It’s nowhere to be found.
I just assumed I accidentally deleted it because I was watching ’Outsourced’ while working on it. But I thought I’d mention it just in case it wasn’t a careless deletion.
I hope it was my mistake and not a bug.
By far the most likely cause was that you created a link between that context and a user group that the admin Super User was not a member of. Creating such a link protects things from *everyone* who is not a member of the group, including the admin Super User. It happens to almost everyone at some point.
Oh, wow! I’ll have to play with this again to resurrect the phantom context.
As always, thanks for the tips, Bob
