    Hi, this is a cry for help.

    It’s a problem with file manager, in particualr I think paths or permissions. I’ve just spent a few hours going through similar posts and responses mostly from 2005 & 2008, following the advice given, but can’t find an answer that solves it.

    I have 2 ModX sites, built in 2004. On each, the image upload facility stopped working about 18 months ago. The one site I’ve been working on - which everything below refers to - I’ve just updated to the 7th June 2010 release of Evo 1.04 (great work, thank you).

    1) Image upload using tinymce:
    If I browse for a local image file and try to upload I get the error "Disallowed file type". That’s for standard .jpgs of .gifs of under 50k file size.

    2) File Manager problem:
    In Elements > Manage Files, the Assets folder shows as empty.
    On the server this includes all the normal folders, including ’images’, and the site displays images within http://www.mydomain.com/assets/images/

    The 2 warning messages shown are:
    "Invalid path "/usr/home/vegfam/public_html/assets/"" and "Upload feature inhibited - make sure uploads are supported and the directory is writable for PHP."

    In Tools > Configuration > Interface & Features:
    ’File base path’ and ’File Browser URL’ are both set to ’/’.
    (I’ve variously tried setting ’File base path’ to
    /usr/home/sitename/public_html/
    /home/sitename/public_html/assets/
    /home/sitename/public_html/assets/images)

    In Tools > Configuration > File Manager:
    ’File Manager Path’ is set to /usr/home/sitename/public_html/assets/ ( I’ve also tried /usr/home/sitename/public_html/ )

    All the file types I’m trying to upload are included in ’Uploadable File Types’

    The .htaccess is set to ’www’, and I’m using http://www.mydomain/manager/

    Folder permissions are set to ’777’

    In ’Security > Manage Users > User’, my account is set to a Max Upload Size of 500000.
    ’File Base Path’ and ’File Base URL’ are again set to ’/’.

    The php.info() file includes these values:

    include_path [local value]
    .:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear:/home/sitename/public_html/manager/includes/

    include_path [master value]
    .:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear

    open_basedir [local value]
    no value

    open_basedir [master value]
    no value

    What other information I can get:

    Web Server:
    * PHP 5.2
    * Apache
    * Linux

    Database:
    * MySQL 5.0.22

    MODx:
    * Version 1.0.4
    * basic template changes, no changes since before this stopped working,
    * standard install Snippets
    * tinyMCE 3.3.5.1, Managermanager 0.3.8 , QuickManager 1.3.4.1

    Browser/Client:
    * Firefox 3.6.12 / IE7
    * XP SP2

    I’m missing something, and I can’t find it or can’t see it! It’s driving me mad.

    thanks

    Michael

      Hi, after a great deal of dicking about I found the solution, hope this helps someone else out:

      the path to the file folders also needs setting in the User Accounts.

      So Security > Manage Users > select User > ’User’ tab

      Then enter the correct file path, the same as you find in Tools > Config > File Manager > ’File Manager Path’ - which in my case is "/home/sitename/public_html/assets/" - into the following fields:

      • File Manager path
        File base path
