I moved a MODx rev 2.0.2 site from one server to another.
I updated the core/config/config.inc.php file and upadated the path in workspaces in the db.
It is pointing to the same db - so no changes needed there.
Manager loads and functions fine - as does the home page from index.php - and I can edit pages and Site Info -> Recent Documents shows the edited file.
However, none of the other pages - 123.html etc. - will load.
I have installed this into a subdirectory and there is an htaccess file in the root - but I can’t see how it would be prevent the pages from loading.
There is also an htaccess file in this subdirectory - but it was functioning fine before the move.
Any ideas about what I’m missing?
Thanks!
Terry
Did you do an upgrade install after the move?
Do you have this at the top of all your templates:
<base href="[[!++site_url]]" />
If that doesn’t do it, you may have to edit the rewrite base line in the .htaccess file in the MODx root to include the subdirectory name.
I had the correct site_url in place and I had edited the .htaccess file to point to the MODx root - and updated the workspaces url field in the db.
But I hadn’t upgraded.
So I did - from rev 2.0.2 to rev 2.0.4
But, alas, the site pages still won’t load.
The home page - index.php - loads and the Manager loads and functions: but no site pages . . .
Any suggestions about what else I could try?
Thanks!
Terry
Does the rewrite base line in .htaccess have a slash at the end?
Another thing to try (after the above) is to rename .htaccess to ht.access in the MODx root and turn Friendly URLs off in System Settings. If that fixes things, you know it’s a FURL/.htaccess problem.
Yes, the rewrite base line ended in a slash . . .
Friendly URLs were ON - turning them off and leaving .htaccess in place the pages now display.
Very nice!
However, the url looks like this: www.site.com/modx/index.php?id=480
Rather than: www.site.com/modx/480.html
But Friendly URLs work when turned on - and that’s the way the site will run.
Thanks a lot for your help!
Terry
If I’m understanding you, you still want to use FURLs and it’s not working.
Be sure to clear the site cache and your browser cache after making any changes.
Are you possibly running locally on XAMPP? If so, rewrite is off be default in the configuration. That would explain things.
If not:
If the .htaccess file has a Options +FollowSymlinks line, try it commented and un-commented.
Try changing the .htaccess line to
