Hi All,
I’m looking at building a site around MODx at the moment and need a bit of advice on how to do something. The site is for a Charity and they want volunteers to be able to register on the site and gain access to an admin only area. In the admin, they’ll have access to generic ’secured’ pages that everyone who is registered will be able to view, but then each ’group’ will have access to another area which is specific to their group.
My idea on how this would work would be to have a ’passcode’ that people enter in to sign up with. This would be easiest as they don’t want ordinary members being able to sign up. People are specifically targeted for this project as it’s going to be within schools.
My question is, how would we do this?
My idea would be to have different folders setup in the admin. For example:
FRONT END WEBSITE:
- Home
- About Us
- Register
- Information
- More Pages...
BACKEND USER GENERIC:
- Generic Content 1
- Generic Content 2
- Generic Content 3
BACKEND USER SECURE:
- SCHOOL 1
- SCHOOL 2
- SCHOOL 3
- SCHOOL 4
Everybody who wasn’t a user would have access to the ’FRONT END USER’ documents.
Everyone who was a registered user would have access to ’FRONT END USER’, ’BACKEND USER GENERIC’ and the Relevant page in the ’BACKEND USER SECURE’ section, but they couldn’t access the rest. I hope this makes sense?
Each of the documents under the BACKEND USER SECURE would have a passcode associated with them and that would be how they are tied up to that group. So In theory, I think this is possible, I’m just not 100% sure how to implement this.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Kind Regards
Lewis
