Hi there
Because of problems with permissions and ziparchive with my hosting provider I can’t do a advanced installation. I really want to have my /manager another name for security reasons. Can I manually rename this folder - and how?
And... does that give errors when upgrading?

no.
you may only change the manager folder when under installation.
move away to a less restrictive hosting provider.

It’s true that the easiest method is during the Advanced install, but you should be able to do it later if you follow these steps:
§ Rename the /manager directory
§ Edit the core/config/config.inc.php file to include the new name
§ Run setup in upgrade mode
It worked for me when I tried it last, but back up your site first.

You can rename the assets, connectors, core and manager directories. You just need to make sure that the core.config.php files and the config.inc.php file are edited to reflect the new names. You can also deny access to the config.inc.php file with .htaccess directives.
