    Hi there

I encounter this error when installing revolution on my (online) server:

Warning: ZipArchive::extractTo() [ziparchive.extractto]: Invalid or unitialized Zip object in /public/sites/modx/core/xpdo/compression/xpdozip.class.php on line 142

Warning: ZipArchive::close() [ziparchive.close]: Invalid or unitialized Zip object in /public/sites/modx/core/xpdo/compression/xpdozip.class.php on line 153

A couple of days before I had a succesfull (advanced) installation in the same folder, but because I wanted to rename my manager-folder I wanted to re-install everything (I didn’t do anything with my install from a couple of days ago; I am learning modx...) - so I deleted this folder via Coda and then proceed like this:

This folder was empty, I assigned 775 permission to it, then uploaded the modx-revo folders "core" and "setup", and then stepped through the installation via the browser. Seems I’m missing something... but what? In my MAMP everything went OK!

    Help appreciated.

You have a bad ZipArchive install on your server. Set the ’archive_with’ System Setting to Yes, which will then use PCLZip instead.

but I’m not sure when I can do this; can’t do it in the installation-menus...

          - on another folder I have a succesfull install. But I want to rename my manager-folder. How to do that?
Furthermore; when installing multiple sites for prototyping for clients on my server, is it possible to install only the parts without the core (because I have already one working online; want to have one core and multiple folders for clients with their own (renamed) manager-folders)

I hope this makes sense to anyone; it is difficult to pinpoint directly to the swearing spot - so to speak. The installation was a breeze before, but today I hit a wall...

Been busy the last day with this error.
I don’t know if there is anybody interested in this issue, but I will jot down my steps to help the community in the long run. Because there can always be someone experiencing the same issue as I have to dal with now.

I found out that System_Setting is in the database - at first I thought Shaun was speaking about MODx manager, but it happened he addressed the database. In MAMP I can change the value (but don’t need to), on my remote server I can’t; perhaps there are permission-restrictions.
Now I’m unzipping the core.zip file manually and upload it via the FTP of Coda to the remote server. I experience a lot of time-outs. But in the install-screen there is a possibility to check "manually unzipped files" so I hope this workaround helps...

              Okay. That didn’t work.

Even with the option "files are already in place" the installer still searches for the .zip

But - I think this is more important - I received a notice of my hosting provider stating that "- it is not possible (anymore) to use scripts outside of the webroot. So "http://modx-core.myname.com" doesn’t work, but "http://myname.com" should. So I will give that a try. But a rather prefer my core-files to reside outside of my public webfiles...

So. Question arises: which provider do you prefer? Seems that I’m one step away from switching...

I don’t know if there is anybody interested, but I’ll update my progress.
Because of my hosting provider switched platforms between my first attempt with smooth installation and the second fruitless time I face a desicion: switch to basic install instead of the advanced install (because of the extractto-error in the advanced install; that shouldn’t occur with the basic install according to what I read in the wiki...) or move to another provider.

First I try the basic install. I will post the following question separate as well: can I rename my /manager folder [i]after[i] installation - and how?
