    Hi,

    Here’s a question for everyone.

I have to run PHP as a CGI because running it as an apache module seems to break MODx (host has it configured to run in safe mode. maddening!).

So, we’re stuck with this situation but the problem is that running PHP like this means I can’t use php_flag zlib.output_compression On and php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5 in my htaccess

As a workaround, I tried creating a chunk with ob_start ("ob_gzhandler"); in it and inserting it at the top of my main template however firefox then screams that it doesn’t recognise the content type.

So how can I get gzipped pages? Any thoughts and insight welcome.

    Thanks
    Leo.
