For the first bit, clear the cache and flush sessions.
For the second, check the modx_manager_path and modx_manager_url in core/config/config.inc.php are correct - but it sounds like /manager isn’t being rewritten to /manager/ which is beyond my level of expertise I’m afraid (have you edited .htaccess at all?).
