Hello,
I tried to install the MODx Revolution 2.0.4-pl2 but I am having problems with the MySQL setup part:
I have configured a new database and filled in the proper fields.
1) choose new installation
2) entered the correct values (database host, login-name, password)
3) Test database server connection and view collations. Connecting to mysql server: Success!
4) Connection character set: utf8, Collation: utf8_general_ci (as in our database setup)
5) Clicking on "Create or test selection of your database" - I get Checking database:MODx could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again.
Am I doing somethin wrong? I am new to this.
The odds are that you entered the wrong name for the database during the install. Many hosts add a prefix to the DB name so it may not be the name you entered when you created the DB. Check the name in cPanel.
I checked everything and I have all the right names and prefixes, it connects to the Mysql server fine, just gets hung up on the character set.
Normally, what you’re seeing means that MODx could connect to the server, but did not find the database you created -- otherwise it wouldn’t attempt to create it. The username and password you supply during that part of the install are for the database user (not the login credentials for the Manager). Make sure that the DB user has full rights to the database.
