Hello,
I am learning how to use modX and I have the following question:
When you change the site_start in the Configuration section how does the redirect occur?
Is it via a 302 header like for [[FirstChildRedirect]] ?
If so isn’t this bad for SEO?
Thanks for your answers. And if my question turns out to be stupid please forgive my beginnerness...
It’s definitely a good question. I don’t think there is any redirect at all.
When index.php (or no file) is requested, the index.php file is invoked. It launches the document parser, which which gets the template and site_start page, builds the page, and returns it to the browser for display -- all without leaving index.php.
Changing the site_start page has no effect on this process other than to substitute different content on index.php and, possibly, a different alias in the URL.
If you use the same alias for the new page (you may have to change the alias on the old one to do this) and have FURLs and Friendly Aliases on, nothing will change but the content as far as a search engine is concerned.
Ok thanks !
that sounds safe for SEO.
