    Hi mate,
    newby here.
I have installed modx-2.0.2 [revolution] on my server running PHP 5.2.
Initially it worked fine. Then I upgraded the php version to PHP 5.3.3.

Now I can not login to manager panel. With the wrong username/password it’s showing appropiate error message. But with the right username/password it’s not getting rediredted/ not loading manager home page neither showing any error message, just stuck at login page.

Interestingly when I installed modx again under a new directory i.e public_html/abc the manager works fine on www.example.com/abc/manager. But the manager is not working under root directory,i.e www.example.com/manager.

I have run out of any clue or guess what might be going wrong here.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am having the same or similar problem. I setup my site before I had the domain name pointed, so the manager URL was the IP address or domain name of the host’s server, followed by the username, e.g., 1.2.3.4/~user/manager/. Now I can only log in if I use that address. My guess is that the site URL is established when MODx is first installed and you can’t change it after that. If it’s possible I would like to know how.

Did you try to re-run setup after your domain name is pointed (like you should do in case of update), then clear the cache (both MODx cache and browser cache) ?
This can solve (or not) the problem...
        Cheers

I’ve re-run setup several times when updating, but perhaps not with the correct URL. The setup directory is gone, so is it just a matter of re-uploading it and entering mysite.com/setup/ ?

            Not sure but probably yes...

OK, I re-ran setup and that took care of the domain problem (thank you); however, it still insists on having the username in there. In other words, I can login from mysite.com/~user/manager/ but not from mysite.com/manager/. If this only affected the manager I wouldn’t care, but the real problem here is that <base href="[[!++site_url]]"/> returns mysite.com/~user making my links all wonky. Does anyone know how to fix [[site_url]] huh

Update: according to this topic http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=48779.0 (and others), [[++site_url]] is not particularly reliable, so I’ll just leave my base tag hard-coded.

If you use [[!++site_url]], it is far more reliable.

I meant the site_url var in general, nothing to do with caching (yes, having the ! would make it more reliable but only in terms of avoiding cache).
