Oh boy. It’s been a while since I used modx -- it was before ’revolution’.

Now I’m setting up a new site and am quite confused. Didn’t I use something called WayFinder to create menus? Where is it? Or is there something newer (/better) ?

I see the new install comes with NO templates/addons/etc. Just bare bones.

What are the ’core’ addons I need? Like Ditto, WayFinder .... maybe a very basic template??
I’ll also need an addon for an email/contact form.
    And a twitter feed getter.
And a way to make galleries. (That was Ditto, right?)

    Thanks! A newb again .... sigh ...

      Welcome back smiley

In Revolution there is something called the Package Manager. You can find it under System in the top menu of the manager.

From there, click on Download Extras, choose to select a provider, choose modxcms.com, and browse through the repository to find the addons you need.

Next, click the download button and it will be added to your workspace where you can simply click install and follow the on screen instructions to get your extras added.

      The basic addons are:
      - building menus: Wayfinder
      - fetching resource stuff (like the old Ditto, Reflect etc): getResources
      - comments (former Jot): Quip

The other addons depend on what you’re using the site for, but especially the first two are used on pretty much all sites. wink

You may also want to install TinyMCE if you are used to RTE editors for resources, and if you like CodeMirror for syntax highlighting and line numbers in chunks/snippets/plugins. All from the package manager.

Thanks for the help! Making progress ...

        A couple of things I haven’t found --

        1. There was a module that allowed drag-n-drop rearranging of the order of menus ... is that still possible?
UPDATE: Holy cow! I can just rearrange in the tree! Sweet...

        2. There was something that allowed non-admin ’editors’ of the site to edit pages WITHOUT going to the manager.

        thanks!

          1) I’d love to hear about that... Our programmer spent a while to hack drag ’n drop into Evo, and as that’s not really nice to hack in we never released it (or really used it for clients..)
          2) that’d probably be something like PubKit or QuickEdit/QuickManager? Front-end editing has not yet been developed afaik, altho there is a front-end editor being worked on atm that looks promising. I’m sure someone else can point you to the topic/video preview as I can’t remember where it was atm, lol.
