    Hi anyone!
    Am beginning to like this MODx CMS. However, having completed my first website, I’m tearing my head trying to get it live. The FTP takes too long and broken when done. I have tried changing the .htaccess and Config files but to no avail. Can anyone please show the exact portions to modify on these 2 files?

    I am from a designer background and probably missing some technical bits but I must say I have been good deploying the other CMSs with no probs at all. BTW, I am using the Revolution version.

    thank you in advance.

      Matt, Did you run Setup in upgrade mode after moving the files?

      Can you get into the Manager?

      Check the database variables at near top of core/config/config.inc.php.

      What exactly is happening (’broken’ doesn’t give us much to go on).

      The only line in .htaccess that would need to be modified is the rewrite base line. And it should be ok as long as both sites are in the web root of the domain.

        FTP is too slow? That sounds like a hosting issue. Who is hosting your site?

          Thanks for the responses above.
          I have gone the other route uploading. Had to resort to my cPanel file manager to upload a zipped folder then extracted from within my hosting server.

          I would agree maybe its a hosting issue why FTP is slow. Hosting Support also doesn’t have an answer for that.

          Moving on, I can not see my site manager yet but can see my pages minus all the styles. And its not loading my <head> section too so not sure if that will be sorted soon as I can see my site manager?

          How do I run setup in upgrade mode though?

          When I hit a success before any answers I will post the steps for others to see.

            Check the Upgrade Existing Site radio option.

                Hi guys,

                Managed to have the site live. Its my own website so am polishing it as I go, www.3rdedge.co.za

                Still need help because I cannot get into my backend manager, it comes out blank. I have updated the path in my config file but i probably am missing something.

                Here’s what to lookout for if anyone starts out with problems i had above;

                1. I hadn’t thought I should install Modx on my live server (silly, coz I have done it several times with Joomla! otherwise where would the setup folder come from?
                )
                2. Installing in upgrade mode - i faced the issue where the database couldn’t be seen or created, then i realised in php myadmin i had not given myself enough privilages so had to sort that and got my site up.

                3. Constantly check your .htaccess file and config files if anything appears broken.

                I hope i get to sort the Manager issue then i will have a bit of experience on the next site.

                Any advice on the above, welcome

                Matt
