I’m still learning modx, and my first site build was done following the Creating a Blog in Modx Revolution tutorial.

I figured out how to enable and use friendly urls in modx, but I was wondering if there’s anyway to include the date type structure in the url like what’s done in wordpress (as seen http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks)

When searching the forums, i found this post http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=42449.0, but no solution was posted.

    Thanks

Sorry to take an old post to the top, but I’m about to launch my new site in modx, and if it’s possible, I’d like to know how to do so before going live, but if it can’t be done, could someone with knowledge on the subject please chime in, just to verify?

      Thanks so much!

Not ’answers’ as such (in that it’s not programmatic), but the simplest way to generate date based urls is to create structure that does that, ie in your blog area, add a folder per year, folder per month, then use the day as another folder name. Or put the date in the alias.

As I understand FURLs, you wouldn’t be able to selectively switch it on and off for different sections (same as Wordpress - you set it once for the whole site). You could maybe file a feature request to ask that the FURL ’alias’ field could be selectable, and you might be able to get a TV field to generate a date.

Another option (in a world of infinite patience) would be to configure your webserver to look for date-based URLs and translate these into a Archivist call - ie use one Archive page to serve all date base URLs.

Date-based URLs are not usually a good idea for visitors (and SEO).
