    Hello,

I absolutely love MODx but am not very technical and find upgrading to a new version of modx a little tricky - and moving a modx site to another server even trickier.

From a non technical user’s perspective:

    a. Has the development team ever considered having an "upgrade" link in the tools menu for upgrading to the latest version of MODx? (eg kind of like with software upgrades where the cms does all the work seamlessly)

    b. If the ability exists to backup the mysql database through the modx manager, how come you cannot "Restore" a database through it (eg say when moving a modx website to another server, it would be much easier for non technically minded people to do a base install on the new server (that’s the easy bit), then go to Tools / Restore and link in the correct database on the new server).

Thats my 2 non technical cents anyway!

    Keep up the great work

Excellent suggestions. Features like that are planned for MODx Revolution, but current work is focused on getting it out the door. wink

You might take a look at the BkupModx add-on, which does include a restore feature.

        Thanks BobRay.

It would just make things so much easier - and modx so much more portable for non technical types like me!
