Hi all. Very new here, just recently installed the latest modx, just getting my head around it. I’m reading the manual and specifically this page,

    <http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Resources#Resources-LinkingtoaResource>

about resource tags. I’ve found a basic front-end style template to work with, I’ve created a secondary page and in the content for the first page I wanted to put a link to the second page as per where my reading is in the manual at this time.

In the content, dragging the second page and dropping onto the resource content editor leaves me with,

    [[~2]]

just as the manual suggests. However upon reloading the page, this doesn’t appear to be expanded into a full url as the manual suggests. I get just plain text at that location expanded to

    index.php?id=2

    Base install, page 1 and page 2 are id’s 1 & 2 respectively.

What gives? I’m lost already. Can anyone clue me in?

    TIA,

    /jim

Ok, so maybe just confirm my understanding of this, but the "resource tag" only expands to the resource url but not the anchor. Thus my thinking was off here. I tried,

      [[~2? &scheme=`full`]]

and got what you’d expect, but no anchor. So I was misundertanding the expansion and have to place this resource tag into my own html snippet to fully create a functional anchor.

      Right?

      Thanks,

      /jim

P.S. I’m rtfm’ing... A little English can go a loooooooong way. 1 small example, would have saved me time, this forum space, saved on experimentation and interpretation.... English is a rich language!

        Hello

If you expect to see in your URL something like "http://mysite/mypage.html" assuming your page has "mypage" as alias, you have to enable FURL in the system settings, and an .htaccess file as it is explained in the doc http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Using+Friendly+URLs

        Hope this helps
        Cheers

BTW, that’s a link tag, not a resource tag. Resource tags show fields of the resource (e.g. content, pagetitle, introtext, ect.) and TVs.

As anso suggests, you’ll need to implement FURLS to see a full URL and you still won’t see them when previewing from the Manager. You’ll have to look from another browser where you’re not logged into the Manager.

            Hello Bob,

I’m sorry to say I disagree with that... On a local install I have FURLs enabled (works like a charm), and of courses aliases on each of my resource and when I "preview’ from the manager (ie: click on preview site, or preview resource in my manager) I have the correct FURL displayed in my browser address bar... (localhost/mystite/myalias.html) No need to test it from anaother browser, or to logout ...

            It’s just a detail...
            Cheers

BTW : I’d like to thank you for the great help you provide here on the forum, and through the helpful docs you write... Hope to read your Revo book soon... and thanks a lot again

Thanks for the kind words anso. You’re right about the FURLs -- that must have changed.
