Give the user the ability to change documents shown without touching the templat

So to paint the picture, I have a homepage consisting of articles pulled through by ditto. There is an events section. The client wants to be able to change the amount of events shown, is there a way to do this without letting them near the templates?

you can use Template-Vars to set snippet-parameters.
