    Hi ppl,

Really need a hero to help me out.

Even though I have done several modx sites I have an issue which has left me stumped, I have followed links people have given me, tutorials etc but just cant get my head round it.

I don’t mind either revolution or evolution versions to get this working but I just need to give my client (website admin) the option via the manager to create new/edit users (care staff members)that can then login via the website front end and have access to a generic secure page with timetables, timesheets etc (this generic page to be managed by the website admin only)for them to download, not anything to complicated.

I have been advised best to use permissions/users that is with modx but I cant work it out, im really hoping someone could just post some instructions below on how achieve the above? I know im being cheeky but would so help me out, been looking at this for 3 weeks in and out.

Would so appreciate it!! Any questions ill answer ASAP for you.

    Thanks

    Brett

        For Evolution:

        1. In Web Permissions, create a web user group and a resource group and connect them (in the three tabs).
        2. Create the resource for the generic secure page, and assign it to the resource group.
        3. Now your admin user creates web users as needed and assigns them to the web user group.

        That’s all.

(if he wants to, when the admin user creates a web user he can go to the User tab and assign the ID of the secure resource as the new web user’s login landing page)

          Thank you Sotwell,

I will give it a go smiley

Quick questions, do the staff just login via the manager login?

Or can I create an on site login form?

          Thanks

No, you’ll need to use the WebLogin snippet to generate a login form on the front-end.

              Thanks again Sottwell, legend!!

Out of interest is my original post just as easy to do in Revolution??

Not that it matters but I guess I need to think about it in the long run.

                Ho Sottwell,

                Me again!

I have been playing with Revolution for another project and I must admit I would really now like to use this version, is it easy to set-up staff members login etc as it is with Evolution?

Any help would be greatly received!

Definitely not! Revo uses something called Access Control Lists, and while it’s much more flexible and powerful than Evo’s relatively simple system, it takes some getting used to.

Actually I have been putting off working with Revo, and that has got to stop! I’m very comfortable working with Evo since I’ve worked with it since its inception as a fork of Etomite (actually my first site was Etomite with the then-MODx extensions to Etomite), but that’s no excuse not to gird my figurative loins and get into Revo.
