I need to add a user that doesn’t have publishing rights but has the ability to review new content. I am stuck on how to do this in Revo.

There’s some info here that may help:

      http://bobsguides.com/revolution-permissions.html

Probably the simplest way is to duplicate the Administrator policy (call it ReviewAdmin) and edit the duplicate to remove the publish_document permission.

Create a role called "Reviewer" with an authority level of 5 (or any number higher than 1).

Then assign your user to the Administrator group with a role of Reviewer and a policy of ReviewAdmin.

Once it’s working, you can edit the ReviewAdmin policy to remove any other permissions you don’t want the person to have (definitely take out access_permissions). You can hide the file tree and the element tree by removing the file_tree and element_tree permissions.

I couldn’t get this working at all. I tried to do this but when I login with the user it says permission denied and I don’t see the manager page

Then assign your user to the Administrator group with a role of Reviewer and a policy of ReviewAdmin.
You have to do two things here:

          1. Assign your user to the Administrator group with a role of Reviewer (IOW you are declaring this user to be a Reviewer in the Administrator group)
          2. Assign the ReviewAdmin policy to the mgr Context with an Authority equal to (or less than) the Authority you gave the Reviewer role

When OpenGeek has to explain what *I* mean (instead of the other way around), we’re all in trouble. wink

Let me put #2 another way:

            2. Update the Administrators group and create a Context Access ACL entry with a context of mgr, a Minimum Role of Reviewer and an Access Policy of ReviewAdmin.

At first the Security in Revo is crazy. But i am sure there is a reason for this. Once you get the hang of things it all makes scene.
