Hi,
I am interested to know the overall performance of MODx compared to standard PHP ?
I am thinking of using MODx for an online service that requires:
- Management of large volumes of data (MySQL, 5 million+ records) with several more data importations per day by users.
- Several look-ups/searches each day (hundreds per day)
- Several thousands of page requests per day.
- Hundreds of page sessions per day.
- Integrating several APIs
Is MODx suitable for the above or would standard PHP5 be a better route? (I have a dedicated server).
Thanks in advance.

We’ve interfaced MODx with databases doing lookups on 7 million+ records through Ajax with great performance at Collabpad. It all depends on how you structure your database and the search techniques you use. I’d definitely spend a lot of time tuning your DB. Your daily loads/visits should not present a challenge assuming you’ve done a good job with the database with which you’re searching/inserting records.
