    Greetings all.
I’m in the process of testing out MODx (1.0.0RC3) for use as my next CMS. Things seem pretty straightforward. There’s one aspect of my existing site, however, that I can’t figure out how to replicate: file management. Now, when I talk about file management, I don’t mean editing your HTML/CSS documents through some online interface. Not at all.
What I do mean is a repository for files (doc, xls, pdf, rtf, etc.) that have categories and can be displayed by date, sorted by category, and downloaded by anonymous visitors to the site. This is to be used by people do mainly download meeting minutes, documentation, and the like.

Is there an easy MODx-related solution out there? Something as simple as it interpreting a file structure (embedded folders) or something standalone that can be incorporated into MODx somehow? Maybe something that is designed for MP3 files but can be re-purposed? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Oh, and one that can accommodate descriptions as well is necessary. Anyone using something similar at the moment?

Something similar. Altho that doesn’t seem to support categories.

I guess I’m looking for a product like: http://blue-anvil.com/archives/wordpress-download-monitor-3 although I’m just about to install this with WP to see if I can integrate it with MODx without tearing my hair out.

Does no one else have similar requirements for any of their sites?

I would probably just create weblinks to point to each of the files and then use Ditto with tagging to create the lists, since that way your file lists will be completely integrated into the site (in searches, etc.).
