I know this is a really old post - anyhow I want to share my way using Sterc Pro plugin which is a great and evergrenn tool ... I also prefer to use, and my clients were used to:
- pagetitle - as HTML title tag
- longtitle - as main page heading (typically H1 or H2)
To reflect this in Sterc's Google preview box I changed assets/components/seopro/js/mgr/seopro.js around line 171 from 'longtitle' to 'pagetitle' (in the else part):
if (MODx.isEmpty(seoPro.config.values['longtitle'])) {
title = seoPro.config.values['pagetitle'];
} else {
title = seoPro.config.values['pagetitle'];
}
Now if the editors change "Title" field, the Google preview title line is changing: I like the editors can use "longtitle" als visible headline filed.
I some time ago already proposed to Sterc to provide a setting for the plugin to choose which field you like to use as Google title in the preview, I didn't get an answer then
I know the above is a quite dirty hack and will be overwritten by the next plugin update...
