    Hi Guys,

First off, has anyone else experienced this? I’m copying a remote installation hosted on Dreamhost to my local XAMPP installation and here’s how I’ve done it:

    0. Read on the FAQ on moving modx installations.
    1. Gzipped my remote modx install directory
    2. Downloaded the gzip file and decompressed it in my XAMPP’s HTDOCs directory
    3. Dumped a rather large MODX SQL file
    4. Used BigDump to import the SQL file into XAMPP’s MySQL database
    5. Modified the .HTACCESS for local development
    6. Modified the imported MODX installation’s config file for local access
    7. Ran MODX Evolution 1.0.2’s default dir to make the site run in my local webserver
    8. Configured the paths (file manager, etc.) via the MODX Manager page

Now the site runs fine, except it doesn’t load photos and even the phx plugin file (phx.parser.class.inc.php). Entering a direct URL path to one of my photos gave me the error:

    Access forbidden!

You don’t have permission to access the requested object. It is either read-protected or not readable by the server.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
    Error 403

I know this either has something to do with Apache’s httpd.conf configuration setup, or Windows file permissions. I’m on Windows Vista by the way. Does anyone know of a quick solution for this?

    Many thanks!

    Cheers,
    Les

The one with the final backslash didn’t work sad. Tried it on the HTDOCs and the modx installation directory (restarting and refreshing after making the changes). This is really weird because if I look at Firefox’s image properties page, it’s able to load up the image. But if you copy the image link and paste it on the browser, it gives that 403 error. Not only that, if I navigate manually through my assets directory (those that aren’t protected), I can’t see the JPEG files inside.

I can see the files when I copy my assets directory to another locally installed and working MODX installation though.

I copied the files from a Linux/Unix web server via SSH after GZipping it up.

Anything else with Windows File Permissions I can fiddle around with to make Apache recognize my assets?

Update: I copied my assets directory to a new directory in my htdocs, no luck either. Gives the same 403 issues.

        Cheers,
        Les
