    Hi

I successfully moved the site from the live server to the local server and it works fine so far, but the problem is, the umlauts or the "mutated vowels" were not showing properly.

It shows a strange characters instead. Any idea what could be the cause of the problem?

In my desktop it works fine, but when I replicate this in my laptop the "umlauts" didn’t show properly.

    Any advice would be appreciated
    thanks

It’s most likely a database charset/collation incompatibility, or possibly a browser setting.

Check the charset and collations of both databases, they must be the same.

            where should I check that?

            where particular?
            Thanks
