Hi,
I’ve been working on a personal site where clients can log in to see both past invoices as a file list and also a table with work outstanding. I’m using the ’FileLister’ add on to list the client’s folder of past invoices but I’m not sure the best way to go about showing the client’s outstanding work (work that’s been done but not yet invoiced for).
I’d like to be able to generate a table with columns: Date, Job event, Time taken, Rate and Amount
Under those headings I’d place bits of work I’d done for them. I can of course manually create a static table and put in values by hand but is there a more elegant way of doing it - eg using a database for the data? I’d also love to be able to show a running total.
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks,
Richard
Anyone?
I thought about using Jot as I understand you can add fields and style it differently but before I spend time figuring it out, is there a better way?
Thanks in advance,
Richard

Jot will work; it’s often useful for such things where you really need a custom database table and the usual accompanying input/output for the data. No need to re-invent the wheel, just modify the form and display tpls.
One thing to keep in mind when using custom fields with Jot. Since it’s a settings-type table, with three fields, the ID of the comment it belongs to, the name of the field, and the value of the field, the values are always stored as text. So if you’re sorting or calculating, you need to convert the value to the appropriate numerical type first. You can also use the "parent" field; it’s an int field but not used by anything in Jot (I believe it was originally intended to support threading of comments, but that never was developed).
Thanks for the vote of confidence. I’ll take a look at it now.
