Sorry for my newbie question. I am new to Modx and trying to see how I could port my current website to Modx. Could someone kindly point me to the right resource/link to get started.

I have a site with a listing of schools (currently, about 1200). So, I have all my data in the database. I don’t plan on creating documents for each school entry. Instead, I would like to use one document/template to be used to display all schools. (We could pass in the ID for the school to the document/snippet.)

I also need to create a similar document/template for restaurants, etc. Currently, I have about 2000 entries. I expect this to grow to more than 4000.

What is the right approach to defining my "document"/"Template Variables"/"templates" to fetch data for a given school and render a page. Where do I place the xPDO logic? Is it more appropriate to place it in a snippet or the template variable source? (Please keep in mind that some data is fetched from related tables: address, events, activities, etc.)

Thank you very much for your help.

It’s a good question. xPDO offers a very powerful way to access your database, but it needs some special files that you have to create. It’s like you have to create some Plutonium fuel rods to fuel your power plant, but once you do that, you can write some good Snippets.
