    Hi

    I need to display short audio clips (mp3’s and possibly wav’s) and video (mainly swf,flv,mp4)om quite a few pages and wondered what the best route for this would be. There will be multiple audio snippets on one page with a title and short description next to each.
    I can already use TinyMCE for uploading MP3 files using the Quicktime option but it displays the big ’Q’ while the page loads which isn’t great. Perhaps Flash is the best way to go but then how would i integrate something that’s also easy for the client to manage?

    Thanks for any advice

      Hi Ganesh, thanks for your suggestions.

      I have already got JWPlayer running and it’s not ideal that someone has to write
      [[JWPlayer? &src=`assets/media/audioTest.mp3` &height=`24px` &controlbar=`bottom`]]
      or
      [[JWPlayer? &src=`assets/media/VideoTest.flv`]]

      Also as far as i can see the files would still have to be uploaded via Tiny if multiple files were to be placed on one page.
      Another thing is that i have to click the play button twice on the video to get it to play!!!
      Your template idea is a good one and as it happens I do have Tiny Templates working for some previous tests so will give that a go because at least then i can style the output.

      Any other ideas appreciated

      Thanks

        You could add a file TV and then something like this in to your template:

        [[JWPlayer? &src=`[*video*]` &height=`24px` &controlbar=`bottom`]]

          If you are looking at multiple files for a single page then my attempt would involve a little javascript and a change to JWPlayer.

          JWplayer amendments would grab the list of files from a folder in a dropdown list and javascript to reload the page on change of dropdown so that the url contains the file to be played

          You could store the files in specific folders for each document. You could still use a TV variable to the folder. A little coding could be done to reduce the need to complete some variables.

          ie JWPlayer could build the source from URL input and prepend the correct path from there:

          url could be http://mydoain.com/videopage1?file=test.flv

          tvVariable = assets/media
          id = documentid say 99
          file = test.flv

          end result would be:

          [!JWPlayer? &height=`24px` &controlbar=`bottom`!] as the src could be generated with the snippet itself and would end up as src=assets/media/99/test.flv

            what about this? "MultiMedia Manager" http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=42208.0

            Resource Multimedia Association (Module opens in modal window on Resource edit page)
            Global multimedia repository view (imported references from defined External sources)
            Multiple groups of multimedia can be created per Resource (e.g. Group of videos, group of audio, or both!)

            The Plugin/Snippet combo allow for injecting your media player ANYWHERE within your site... Chunks, templates, etc. Uses a custom “placeholder”: {multimedia.player}

              I’ve used this for images - it can deal with MP3s :

                I had good experience a while back with wimpyplayer http://www.wimpyplayer.com/

                Crap name but good product. Not free - but almost. I haven’t used it with modx but it shouldn’t be too hard to integrate, being php at the server side (as I recall).

                  Thanks for all the advice.
                  I tried the TinyTemplate route but it didn’t work because I couldn’t find a way to leave an area for the media elements path....the chunk automatically converts the snippet to html.
                  In the end i have gone with a multiplayer using an xml playlist so the client just has to either specify a folder where they upload their audio within the snippet call or use the standard snippet call for single tracks. It’s not ideal but i think i exhausted most other options.

                  thanks again.
